Empowering UK talent and industry: Our response to the UK Government's AI strategy

UiPath response to the UK government's AI Opportunities Action Plan 2025

McKinsey predicts that AI will be a huge driver of global productivity. And PwC estimates AI could contribute up to $15.7 trillion to the global economy by 2030. Many governments around the world are recognizing this and taking steps to maximize its positive impact on their economies, including the United Kingdom (UK). Its recently announced AI Opportunities Action Plan: 50 recommendations to boost the UK's role in developing and implementing AI.

The UK Government's 2025 AI Opportunities Action Plan marks a significant acknowledgment from the Government of the opportunity that AI offers to the UK economy.

We welcome this forward-thinking strategy and are proud to align with its objectives, particularly in healthcare and the nurturing of UK-based talent and innovation.

A commitment to talent and innovation

Talent and innovation are at the heart of the UiPath mission, and we are delighted to see the UK Government emphasize these areas in the strategy. Initiatives that address the skills gap, create clear pathways for talent development, and promote gender diversity in AI are not only vital for the industry but align with UiPath core values.

UiPath also recognizes the importance of equipping the next generation with digital skills. UiPath Academic Alliance, a global initiative, works with educational institutions to integrate automation training into the curriculum, ensuring students have the tools they need to thrive in an AI-driven economy.

Attracting top global AI talent is essential for maintaining the UK’s competitive edge. UiPath supports the Government’s efforts to streamline immigration pathways for highly skilled professionals, enabling innovators to contribute to the country’s thriving AI ecosystem.

Ultimately, we believe in the value of innovation and talent in the UK. It is forward thinking strategies like this that encouraged us to open our AI Innovation Hub in London. In partnership with University College London (UCL), we see the London HQ as a launchpad for ideas, collaboration, and pioneering transformation among some of the brightest minds in AI.

AI in healthcare: transforming patient care

AI offers unparalleled opportunities in healthcare, and the UK is uniquely positioned to lead the way. By harnessing AI’s power, healthcare systems can achieve better patient outcomes, increase efficiency, and reduce costs. We see automation as a key enabler of this transformation.

The UiPath Platform™ integrates seamlessly with agentic AI—AI focused on autonomous decision making and interaction—which enables healthcare systems to adapt dynamically to patient needs, improving responsiveness and care delivery.

The UK Government’s commitment to fostering AI adoption in the public sector, as outlined in its “scan-pilot-scale” approach, is especially promising for healthcare. Piloting AI applications in areas like diagnostics, predictive analytics, and hospital workflow management has already shown remarkable potential. By scaling these solutions, healthcare providers can drastically reduce waiting times, improve resource allocation, and enhance the accuracy of diagnoses.

As the UK continues to consider its approach, there are lessons we can learn from other markets. We have already spearheaded AI-driven automation in healthcare in the Health Service Executive (HSE) in Ireland. Facing the challenges of the COVID-19 pandemic, the HSE implemented robotic process automation (RPA) to manage increased workloads efficiently. Software robots were deployed to handle tasks such as vetting new employees and processing positive cases into the national infectious disease reporting system. This automation not only accelerated response times but also freed up valuable employee hours, allowing healthcare professionals to dedicate more time to patient care.

UiPath is committed to making healthcare automation more accessible. By embracing AI, NHS trusts and other healthcare providers can automate repetitive processes such as patient record updates and appointment scheduling. Combined with advancements in agentic AI, these technologies empower clinicians to make faster and more informed decisions, delivering high-quality care while fostering greater efficiency and better patient outcomes.

A shared vision for a digital future

The Government’s ambition to build secure infrastructure, drive AI adoption across sectors, and establish 'AI Growth Zones' reflects a comprehensive strategy to position the UK as a global leader in AI innovation. UiPath is eager to play an integral role in this journey, providing automation and AI solutions that empower organizations to achieve their goals.

UiPath is dedicated to advancing automation technologies that complement the UK’s AI aspirations. By fostering collaboration across the public and private sectors, supporting healthcare transformation, and championing talent development, we aim to help the UK realize its vision of a more connected, productive, and inclusive future.
