Why I chose Solution Engineering at UiPath

In this first installment, we catch up with Martin Barret, who shares his story of choosing a career in Solution Engineering.

Hi, my name is Martin Barrett and I am a Solutions Engineer in the UKI Team at UiPath. I’m a proud father and husband, and when I’m not chasing after my kids — dog or chickens, I’ll be in the garage rebuilding my old Land Rover Defender. I recently studied Sustainability Leadership at the University of Cambridge, so I’m particularly passionate about how we can use technology to drive positive environmental change alongside innovation.

Why did you choose a career in Solution Engineering?

"I actively worked towards a career in Solution Engineering when I started my career. It’s the perfect role for people with a technical background (or those interested with the mechanics of solutions) and love problem solving. Also it’s an exciting, ever changing role as you are constantly learning as technology advances."

What attracted you to UiPath specifically?

"I truly believe in the platform and the direction of UiPath. As organizations face rising expectations for AI-driven experiences, disconnected systems, and limited resources, UiPath is uniquely positioned to support them in all these areas. The UiPath Foundation was also a big element in applying. I love the work the team does and especially how Daniel is hands-on with the Foundation."

How has your role evolved since joining UiPath?

"The beauty about UiPath is that you and your role are allowed to grow with the support of your manager and the company. You are continuously encouraged to explore ways on improving personally and professionally."

What has been the most rewarding part of your journey at UiPath?

"The ability to explore Automation for Good – How the UiPath platform can support towards organizations sustainability targets. I believe that AI and Automations can provide the insights and solutions to help reduce environmental impact."

What’s your favorite benefit or perk of working at UiPath?

How do you maintain a work-life balance in a busy environment?

"UiPath provides incredible resources and internally support to help maintain the right balance. I am also very lucky to have an incredibly supportive manager also."

What excites you about the future of your role or team at UiPath?

"Growth – As the company grows, I believe that will provide opportunities to grow my career within UiPath also and stay part of the family."

What advice would you give to someone considering a role in sales at UiPath?

"Join! If you are of a creative, self-starter mindset, you will flourish at UiPath as it is embedded in our culture."
