UiPath Supports the Latest SAP ® WinGUI 7.70

UPDATE: For information about UiPath support for the latest SAP release, read UiPath Supports the Latest SAP® WinGUI 8.00 and SAP Business Client 8.00.

Last week, SAP released the latest version of SAP WinGUI, 7.70. UiPath is proud to fully support SAP WinGUI 7.70 and all of its latest features. SAP customers who wish to create automations will benefit from seamless integration and support of all automation capabilities of the latest as well as previous versions of SAP WinGUI, such as SAP WinGUI 7.40, 7.50, and 7.60 (any patch level).

UiPath customers are leveraging our automations on top of SAP S/4HANA® or SAP ECC® to accelerate their business processes. In addition, customers are using RPA and UiPath Test Suite during their migrations from SAP ECC to SAP S/4HANA.

About SAP WinGUI and SAP automation

SAP GUI for Windows is SAP's Windows-based client for accessing classical SAP applications such as SAP S/4HANA, SAP ECC, and other SAP products. Enabling SAP WinGUI API scripting allows customers to create reliable and stable automations.

UiPath supports the following versions of SAP WinGUI for Windows 7 and Windows 10, for both architecture types (32-bit and 64-bit) and for both logon tools SAP Logon and SAP Logon Pad.

  • SAP WinGUI 7.70 (newcomer to the SAP WinGUI family)

  • SAP WinGUI 7.60

  • SAP WinGUI 7.50

  • SAP WinGUI 7.40

Highlights of SAP WinGUI 7.70

From the user’s perspective, SAP WinGUI 7.70 comes with the following top three highlights:

  • New visual themes "Quartz”: the feature set of Quartz is very similar to Belize, the latest theme before Quartz. SAP Quartz allows for an additional option of a dark theme for users who prefer a dark background. Quartz becomes the new default theme. UiPath automations will continue to run smoothly even if you have built your process or test case on any previous SAP theme, such as Belize or the even earlier Blue Crystal.

  • Alternative browser control (Microsoft Edge, based on Chromium): in prior versions, the SAP GUI HTML Control used the Microsoft Internet Explorer Control for hosting HTML content such as a document or web page. Internet Explorer was the single option and the default browser. With the new version of SAP WinGUI, customers can also use Edge (Chromium) web rendering controls. UiPath can handle both web control types equally well and support customers on their SAP automation journeys.

  • Multi-monitor scaling support: In prior versions, SAP GUI only used the settings of the primary monitor for scaling. Ensuring multi-monitor scaling capabilities is a very complex topic. With SAP WinGUI 7.70, multi-monitor scaling can be activated for Belize and newer themes. Many RPA and test automation vendors face a similar problem. Often, automations depend on the screen resolution settings from the recorded session. This is a strong limitation for customers as it requires tedious monitoring and handling of settings. UiPath is proud to be independent from screen resolution settings, giving customers full flexibility in their automations both for RPA and testing.

Multi-monitor scaling support

With the support of the new SAP WinGUI release, UiPath continues to support the needs of SAP customers as a strong SAP PartnerEdge partner, ensuring timely support of new SAP strategies, products, and features. Our products have been certified for a tight integration with SAP WinGUI, SAP BAPI, and SAP Solution Manager.
